When we reach September, and the madness of Summer starts to fade away, when you are waking up to chilly mornings and debating whether or not it's too early in the year to turn the heating on, I am always filled with anticipation for the coming months.
With the start of Autumn comes a photographer's dream. Golden light. At this time of year, because of the angle of the sun, the dawn and dusk light emits this wonderfully warming golden colour that immediately reminds us of Autumn.
The next few months will hopefully see me busily out and about - especially early mornings to capture that magical moment when the rising sun hits the morning's mist. When the leaves start to turn to red, amber, orange, brown, and many other shades, the breath of wild animals forms condensation visible to the naked eye and the red deer stags are calling before the rut, the pure delight at this season will have finally settled in.
Calm mornings when the reflections in pools of water are so perfect you feel as though you are looking into a mirror are some of my favourite, especially when graced by the presence of some manner of wildlife.
Meanwhile, we say goodbye to the hedgehogs, the dormice and the bats as they prepare to sleep though the long winter, if only we could all hibernate but then, we'd miss those beautiful moments that Autumn has to share with us.
